ABOUT THE COURSE

Large numbers of students are actively considering and taking up research and associated higher studies. This course aims to introduce students to the important aspects of research. The intent of the course is to make students aware of the details associated with formal research and to help students overcome common misconceptions that may be present in their minds. By going through this course, students are likely to be able to take up research activities in a more systematic and formal manner right from the beginning.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

Students of ME/MTech/MS/MSc/PhD can benefit.

PRE-REQUISITES

Students who have completed undergraduate studies (in Engineering or Science) will be in a better position to benefit from this course

Course duration: 8 weeks
Start date and end date of course: 23 January 2017-26 March 2017
Dates of exams:  23 April 2017
Time of exam: Shift 1: 9am-12noon; Shift 2: 2pm-5pm
Any-one shift can be chosen to write the exam for a course
Final List of exam cities will be available in exam registration form.
Registration URL: Announcements will be made when the registration form is open for registrations.
Exam Fee: The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee of approximately Rs 1000 needs to be paid.
Certification criteria:
Final score will be calculated as 25% assignment score + 75% final exam score
25% assignment score is calculated as 25% of average of
4 weeks course: Best 3 out of 4 assignments
8 weeks course: Best 6 out of 8 assignments
12 weeks course: Best 8 out of 12 assignments
(Please use whichever data is applicable for your course)
E-Certificate will be given to those who register and write the exam and score greater than or equal to 40% final score. A certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup. It will have the logos of NPTEL and Institute which is coordinating.

Week 7: Intellectual Property
Week 8: Department specific research discussions
