Er. Prof. Bhasker Bhatt is a Town Planner and presently serving as a PG in charge (ME TCP) and Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering Department of Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology – SCET, Surat. He holds several institute level and department level portfolios. He has been invited as an external examiner/ Juror at several instants by the GTU, Chandkheda; MSU, Vadodara; VNSGU and UTU, Bardoli as well.
He completed his masters in town planning with a research on Road Safety Audit. As far as academics are concerned, he has been excellent and awarded with several Gold Medals during Diploma, Degree and Post Graduate studies. He had provided his services in the field of consultancy at national as well as international level through working with multilateral organisations such as The World Bank and United Nations Development Project-India. Formulation of consultancy agency selection tenders for complicated projects is one of his proficiency. Recent research areas of him include Statistical Analysis Techniques, GIS and Climate Change effects pertaining to urban areas.
He is actively associated with several professional organisations Presently in 2016, he is serving as a Section Management Committee Member of ISTE Gujarat Section, Managing Committee Member in South Gujarat Local Center of the Institution of Engineers (India) as well as Treasurer of Regional Chapter (Gujarat-Rajasthan) in the Institute of Urban Transportation which is an organization under The Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India. He also is a Faculty associate in the Injury Control & Research Center under West Virginia University, USA.
He has more than 5 years’ experience in technical consultancy and about 6 years of engineering teaching. He has guided about 15 PG Dissertations. Towards continuous up gradation of skills and technological advancements, he has attempted about 50+ events consisting of workshops, training programs, seminars and symposiums. He frequently organises events for students and faculty members that ignite active academic up gradation and industrial interaction.
He has published more than 35 technical research papers in conferences and journals. He is fascinated to conduct academic and exposure trips for students through putting his network of acquaintances to best of use.
He served various posts in a Rotary Club of Surat and has been recognised internationally as Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He was awarded as “Best Club Secretary (Large Clubs) 2012-13” for the Rotary District 3060.
Prof. Bhasker is a recipient of “Special Appreciation Award of ISTE Gujarat Section 2015” for his contributions to ISTE Gujarat Section. Also, he was honoured by “Pedagogical Innovation Award 2015 (PIA)” by worthy hands of Dr Akshai Aggarwal, the then Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of GTU by the GTU for his efforts and contributions in engineering education.
At the GTU he was appointed as a Mentor for several Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) conducted at the university wherein he trained more than 450+ teachers of diverse engineering discipline. 1800+ students have attended his sessions on Design Thinking approach in Engineering, that surely ignites the engineering insights and motivates the engineering brain to increase capabilities, drastically.
He was involved by the GTU for developing a spine of Design Engineering subject that is based on Design Thinking approach across all branches of engineering under the GTU. With his students, he has been addressing societal issues with innovative remedial measures.
He firmly believes that “a positive attitude is the only quality needed, as the rest other will follow automatically” and “learn by doing – doing again and again and again”. Make mistakes and learn, and move ahead. While in engineering academics, he was a recipient of several recognitions, appreciations and Honor-Medals.
He is recently appointed as an associate to the editorial board of USA Based an international Journal. He has been attempting “sharing whatever he’s gaining” consistently. Creation of this portal is a humble attempt to a motive of REACH OUT TO STUDENTS – which apparently is among various missions of him.
